Alice D. Domar, PhD
Alice D. Domar is a pioneer in the application of mind/body medicine to men’s and women’s health issues. She not only established the first Mind/Body Center for Women’s Health, but also conducts ongoing ground-breaking research in the field. Her research focuses on the relationship between stress and different women’s health conditions, and creating innovative programs to help women decrease physical and psychological symptoms.
She is the Executive Director of the Domar Center for Mind/Body Health, and the Director of Mind/Body Services at Boston IVF. She is an assistant professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School, and a senior staff psychologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Elizabeth Ward, PhD, Mind/Body Group Leader/Individual and Couple’s Counseling
Dr. Ward has worked with individuals and couples for over 10 years as a licensed psychotherpist. She received her doctorate in clincal psychology from Fielding Graduate Psychology and her master’s in counseling psychology from the University of Denver. Elizabeth is a member of Professor Ellen Langer’s mindfulness lab at Harvard University as well as the American Psychological Association, Association for Applied Sport Pschology and Wellesley Centers for Women. Elizabeth has a wealth of experience working with women with fertility issues. Additionally, the mind-body focus at the Domar Center relates well to her work with high-performing athletes.
Karen Marans, PhD, Mind/Body Group Leader/Individual and Couples Counseling
Dr. Marans is a licensed psychologist and a clinical neuropsychologist. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Boston University, and completed a two-year post doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology. She specializes in treating women’s health including infertility. She has extensive experience working with patients with a wide range of presenting problems including mood and anxiety disorders, relationship/marital issues, grief and loss, and the emotional and adjustment issues of pregnancy and postpartum.
