Mind/Body Health
Harmonizing with conventional medicine for greater health and wellness
What is Mind/Body Health?
As its name suggests, Mind/Body Health is a treatment approach that complements conventional medicine. The two work in harmony to provide a greater level of well-being than either might achieve alone.
Other terms used to describe Mind/Body Health include holistic healthcare, integrative healthcare, and alternative healthcare (although alternative may refer to treatments that are alternatives, rather than complements, to conventional medicine).
Mind/Body Health includes a wide range of specific treatment methods, including acupuncture, mind/body techniques, massage, and yoga. Some treatments that were once considered complementary, such as patient support groups and cognitive-behavior therapy, have become mainstream.
Mind/Body Health can be used to enhance conventional medical treatments for conditions such as infertility and cancer. It can be used in combination with psychotherapy to address chronic stress and anxiety, or more severe mental health conditions such as eating disorders.
